Activities For Children and Young People

National Citizen Service

4CT participated in the national pilot of National Citizen Service (NCS) during the summer of 2011.  The programme included away and home residentials, 60 hours of volunteering and a graduation ceremony at the Etihad Stadium in October 2011.

NCS supports young people to develop the skills and attitude they need to become more engaged with their communities and become active and responsible citizens, through a voluntary eight week summer programme for 16 year olds that promotes:

  • a more cohesive society by mixing participants of different backgrounds
  • a more responsible society by supporting the transition into adulthood for young people
  • a more engaged society by enabling young people to work together to create social action projects in their local communities
